Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of applying the concepts of "servitude to children" and "human nature" in Ki Hajar Dewantara's educational philosophy at SMA Negeri 1 Semarang. The concept of "child service" emphasizes the importance of placing students at the center of the learning process, while "child nature" emphasizes the importance of respecting the unique potential and natural development of each student. Using descriptive qualitative methods, this research collected data through in-depth interviews, observations and document analysis involving 5 teachers and 1 school principal. The research results show that the concept of "serving children" has been implemented well through various approaches, including student-centered learning, learning differentiation, and emotional and social support from teachers. Concrete examples of application include the use of creative projects in history lessons and project-based learning approaches in mathematics. Student response to this method was very positive, with increased motivation, engagement, and deeper understanding of the material. However, this research also found several challenges in implementing this concept, such as differences in student abilities and backgrounds, as well as limited resources and facilities in schools. Teachers address these challenges by conducting initial assessments of student abilities and interests, as well as utilizing technology and online resources to provide additional material tailored to each student's needs. Support from the school is very helpful in implementing the concept of "serving children" and "the nature of children". Schools provide training for teachers to understand and apply these concepts, as well as providing adequate learning facilities such as comfortable classrooms and access to educational technology. In addition, schools often hold workshops and group discussions to discuss challenges and share experiences in applying these concepts.

In conclusion, the application of the concept of "servant to children" and "child nature" at SMA Negeri 1 Semarang is effective in improving the quality of learning and student academic outcomes. The support provided by schools in the form of training, facilities and programs that support the development of students' individual potential has a very positive influence on student learning outcomes. However, improvements in facilities and resources are still needed to achieve the full potential of each student.
